Many schools in Orange County do not have a school nurse.  Those that do often have their nurse provided through various healthcare foundations such as the Winter Park Health Foundation and Health Central.  OCPS should work with the healthcare community and area hospitals to have a certified nurse in every school.

Over the past decade, children with behavioral problems who have been expelled or are serving long term suspensions from Orange County Public Schools have been sent to alternative education schools.  Unfortunately, state funding cuts have led to the closure of most of Orange County’s alternative education centers. This means those children are either out on the streets or back in our schools. It is important for the safety of our children that we keep Orange County's alternative education centers open.
